Always leave the details of your travel plans and itinerary with a responsible person. Let the person know where you plan to go and when you expect to return. You should also let the person know what vehicle you will be traveling in and the license number of the vehicle. Even this minimal information can accelerate the search process and may make the difference between life and death in the event that you do not return on schedule. When you return or if you decide to cancel or change your plans, be sure to update your contact. You want to have people looking for you when you are lost but not when you are sleeping in a warm bed at home.
